Harish's Biography
Harish was raised in a yogic household where both his father and mother practiced yoga. As a child he can remember practicing yoga but it wasn't until he was 18 that he began to take yoga as a daily practice, and began serious instruction directly from his father, Sheshadri.
Unlike other children who have yoga teachers as fathers, Harish was never forced into "performing" as a child. He came to yoga on his own and it was his choice to follow his father's way. Up to the age of 12, Harish took part in athletics competitions, mainly 100 and 200m. He then switched to competitive kho-kho (a traditional Indian team sport) for 6 years, representing Karnataka State at the national level.
When he was 21 years old, Harish began to assist his father regularly during classes at the Mysore Mandala. He feels that he is learning every day during the classes from his father and the students alike. His adjustments and presence in the practice room are very highly valued by all the students.
In 2009, Harish accompanied Sheshadri on his European tour. They completed a one-month tour of Europe which included Austria, France and Germany. It was Harish's first time abroad, and, because it was January, was his first chance to see snow!
In 2010, and in future years, he plans to make regular teaching tours in Europe again. For current information, please check the relevant page of this website.
